Beautiful ridge with climbing sections up to 2-.
Ideal in combination with the Däumling via ferrata (C).

The west ridge is generally climbed without a rope. The climbing difficulty does not exceed 2- (short sections). Also much hiking terrain. A few sections are quite exposed with risk of falling – bring a short safety rope for children. Occasionally there are sandglass slings or hooks available, so you can secure the critical sections quite well.

    Ascent: 290 m / 0:45 hrs, route 280 m / 1:00 hrs, descent 570 m / 1:00 hrs.
    Total: 570 m / 2:45 hrs.

Rewarding side trips: Kammleiten (1998 m) and Gartnerkofel south summit (2154 m).

    Information status: November 2022.

    Author’s recommendation

You can also use the Gartnerkofel chairlift as an aid for the ascent – valley station on Nassfeldstraße. However, it is not really worth it.

    Roadbook

    Ascent: 290 m / 0:45 hrs.
From Watschiger Alm (1625 m) on a marked path to Kühweger Törl (1914 m). From here a short detour to the summit of Kammleiten (1998 m) is possible.
At Kühweger Törl begins the weakly marked west ridge.

    Route: 280 m / 1:00 hrs.
Follow the markings and clear trail traces along the west ridge to the summit.

    Descent: 570 m / 1:00 hrs.

On the marked descent path (possibly with a detour to the south summit, 2154 m) back to Watschiger Alm.
On the descent the nearby Däumling via ferrata (C) is recommended as a bonus: Shortly below the mountain station of the FIS chairlift, cross eastwards to the start of the via ferrata. Additional effort 1:30 – 2:00 hrs.
