The Geiselspitze, nearly 3,000 meters high, towers above the picturesque alpine meadow of the Jamnigalm and is a particularly scenic summit on the main Tauern ridge.
By the way, different maps show various spellings and names in circulation: Geiselspitze, Geißlkopf, Gesselkopf are just some of the options.

We recommend less experienced mountaineers undertake this route accompanied by a state-certified mountain guide! The Mallnitz Info and Booking Center is available for organization at +43(0)4824-2700-40 or info@mallnitz.at!

From the car park over some hairpin bends to the Jamnighütte. (toll fee)

Continue along the clearly visible and marked path (No. 113) northwards. We cross the Tauernbach over a wooden bridge, then continue with a gentle ascent to the gate, then over another bridge to the Tauernmähder junction. Keeping left, we stay on the main path and pass the Kolbnitzberger alpine hut. Past the Tauern cross, we reach the historic Tauernhaus and shortly after the Hagener hut.
From the hut, head southwest on path No. 135 past the Tauern bell, over the peat bogs further to the Westerfölke notch. Continue to the serpentinite rocks, going around these on the right and then ascending left to the summit ridge. Here begins a short, partly exposed climb of difficulty grade I (can also be bypassed on the right!). Following the ridge further, easy until the summit cross at the border between Carinthia and Salzburg.
