Fleißkehre-Schareck

From the Fleißkehre bus stop, we follow the trail toward Goldgräberdorf. At the turnoff for the Tümpfenweg, the trail leads steeply uphill to the right through the shady forest. Shortly afterward, we keep to the left. After crossing the mountain road, we continue along the Tümpfenweg.

To our left below us and alongside the trail, the Fleißbach rushes by, having carved its way through the rock for millennia and formed deep gullies in the process. Soon we reach the valley station of the Fleißalmbahn. From here, the trail continues deeper into the vast Fleiß Valley. Blooming alpine meadows and rustic huts line our path.

We follow the valley until we come to the sign reading “Schareck 2 ½ h.” Here we turn left and head downhill, cross the rushing stream, and then follow the trail markers steeply uphill across flowering meadows.

Continuing to follow the signs, we finally reach the top station of the Schareckbahn. With a little luck, we might even spot ibex or eagles along the way. From here, it’s not far to the summit cross of the Schareck.

After a well-deserved break and an impressive panoramic view, we head back to the mountain station. Finally, we take the gondola back down to Heiligenblut.
