Roadbook
From the parking lot, we walk along the road past the bus stop to the signpost and turn left onto the hiking trail, which leads us through a beautiful forest up to a gravel path. We continue right on this path and after 2 minutes reach a fork where we take the left path, which winds upwards in several bends. With two somewhat inconspicuously marked shortcuts, the ascent is more enjoyable. The path then continues past the Einstein hut across a wide valley floor and traversing a larger slope to a gully, which we climb using fixed ropes. Above that, it continues over a ridge to the south side, where we descend slightly and reach the path coming up from Tannheim. From here, it is only about 20 minutes to the summit.
On the descent we descend towards Tannheim until we meet a crossing path (about 1480m), which we follow to the right towards the guesthouse "Zugspitzblick." We walk west on this path until we reach a pasture fence (waypoint "Caution Electric Fence"), which we climb over at a marked spot, check the time and after 5 minutes arrive at a slight left curve (see picture waypoint "Signpost").
Here we leave the path (about 1500m) and go right with march number 333 off-trail through trees up to the highest edge of a gravel pit (about 1525m), which can only be seen from above.
With MZ 2, it then goes in slight ups and downs to the highest point of a ridge and gently downward to 1505m.
With MZ 10, we hike toward the clearly visible ridge, slowly descending alternately between clearings and animal trails. Sometimes you have to move to the right.
From about 1450m, we encounter a newly built forest road, which we now follow. At a large hairpin turn, we leave the forest road again, go straight down a few meters, and continue on what is like a causeway uphill until we meet our ascent path on the left.
Now we just need to descend our familiar path back to the Achental parking lot.
