Roadbook
The route starts at the Bertahütte car park (barrier). First steeply through the forest on path 680 to the Bertahütte, then straight on from the Bertahütte to the Ferlacher Sattel onto a trail (marked Mittagskogel East Ridge, not a hiking trail!), following the trail always along the ridge (marked with red dots). Key section in the lower third. Past the East Ridge summit cross to the summit at 2145m. Then descent via the west ridge, past the small Mittagskogel and later the former Anna Hut. Always along the border further. You reach the Jepcasattel (1438m). From here it goes uphill again until you reach the Schwarzkogel at 1841m. The Mallestiger Mittagskogel is reached shortly after at 1801m along the continuing border. The Techantinger Mittagskogel is easily reached by following the border further towards the Wurzenpass (path partially marked as the Alpe Adria Trail). At the saddle between Lepi vhr and Techantinger Mittagskogel, choose the right trail that leads steeply upwards to the summit of the Techantinger Mittagskogel.
For the return, follow the ridge eastwards until you reach a signpost for KGW03 and the Goritschacher Alm. Descend this trail steeply towards the northeast until you reach the forest road. Continue eastwards along the forest road until you reach the ascent from the Mallestiger Mittagskogel (path 684). Follow this until you reach the signpost at Rauschenbach. Cross this and continue past Zwanzgerhof to Baumgartner. Continue on KGW03 to Outschena, follow the forest road towards Jepcasattel until you cross the Kropiunabach at the former customs hut on path 682 and continue on a poorly visible path until you reach Illitsch Raut. From there, about 200 vertical meters up to the Bertahütte car park.
