Discovering the mountain pastures and Occitan villages where the exquisite Raschera cheese, PDO of Piedmont, is produced
The tour is named after "Raschera", the exquisite PDO cheese whose origin is right here, in Piedmont on the pastures of the Raschera Alps, in the municipality of Magliano Alpi, between plain and mountain in the province of Cuneo. Its secret? The genuine grass that produces special milk! The circular itinerary, starting from the Bossea Caves, leads to the discovery of Occitan villages, where a version of Kyè - an Occitan dialect mixed with Italian, French and Spanish - is still spoken, among breathtaking high-altitude landscapes. The tour is recommended from April to November.

POINTS OF INTEREST:
Bossea Caves : BOSSEA, the first Italian tourist cave, was opened to the public in 1874, immediately gaining great fame in Italy and abroad and attracting a large number of visitors.
Here the underground tourism was born in our country and the study and culture of the karst environment received a strong boost. In 1948 there was a major revival of the cavities, with the renewal of the visit route and the installation of the first electric lighting system.

Roadbook
The tour begins at the Bossea Caves parking lot (825 m), in Val Corsaglia, to ascend, on asphalt, to Fontane (950 m), the southernmost Piedmontese Occitan village, where a version of Kyè (the word “man”) is still spoken, an Occitan dialect, a mix of French, Spanish, and Italian, much appreciated by Dante! The ethnographic museum of the Vinai Family and the baroque parish church of San Bartolomeo are very well preserved. We climb along an asphalt road, through rugged rocks and spectacular panoramas, up to the ruins of Stalle La Penna at 1,470 m, and then continue to the tourist resort of PRATO NEVOSO. Shortly before reaching the large square of Colle del Prel (resting place at 1,615 m). From here we will cross Prato Nevoso and descend to Frabosa Sottana on provincial road SP 237 and then SP 183 to ascend later to Frabosa Soprana. Then we will return to Val Corsaglia along a beautiful asphalted road, the SP 183, immersed in woods, with “11 bends”, passing through the village of Straluzzo. Corsaglia (698 m) is a stopping point to admire the bridge and enjoy the local restaurant’s flavors. From here we return to the starting point of Bossea, with the possibility of an excursion to the hamlet of Pra di Roburent (1,018 m), also reachable from the delightful locality of Scarrone (enterable near the Corsaglia cemetery), or from the easier road of Zitella, at the next junction.
