A beautiful route through the vineyards of the Ortenau region. It goes steadily uphill to Geigerskopfturm. Then continue along the Black Forest Tourism X-ing route (uphill trails) up to Mosskopfturm. Here you have gained most of the elevation and can relax enjoying the view into the Rhine Valley and the Black Forest. After a common rest, it goes downhill, mostly on paved paths back to Renchen.

    Roadbook

We start our joint route on the right towards Ulm town center. At the intersection, continue straight on Kleinmättlestraße. Immediately behind the company Erdrich Umformtechnik, turn right onto a field path through the orchards. After 2 km, we cross Haslacher Straße and continue straight. After 200m, keep left and turn right at the next street. Along the vineyards, it goes steeply uphill. Directly after the left curve, a trail continues uphill on the right. At the end of the ascent, you come out next to a hut. Turn left there and follow the paved path. Continue straight until km 3.9. There, keep slightly right and follow Malenbachweg towards Ringelbach. Continue straight and descend through the vineyards to Ringelbach. We join Rebbachweg and turn right at the bottom in the village. Continuing on Weinstraße (L86a) at km 6.2, turn left into Schwender Straße. Turn right at the next street. It goes steeply uphill to an old half-timbered house. At the bench on the left, take the path uphill. At the top, keep right and follow the street downhill. Always follow the street "Wolfhag". At km 8.4, the street joins Gaisbacher Straße. Continue on this. Go straight at L89. Pass through the southern ring of Oberkirch. Turn left at the tourist information and Oberkirch train station. After 100m, turn right and cross the Rench river. Immediately after crossing, continue right on Butschbacher Straße. After another 200m, keep slightly left. We head directly to the hotel Renchtalblick and go up the street on the right there. At km 10.4, turn right downhill into Bellensteinstraße. After the right curve, turn left and follow the local street. This eventually ends and turns into a forest path. Follow the forest path straight towards Geigerskopfturm. At km 12.2, keep right. A trail then follows uphill in a cut. Follow this straight uphill to a meadow. Continue along the forest to the radio mast. At the radio mast, keep left. Continue on the path until km 13.0. There, follow the trail right up to Geigerskopfturm. Once at the top, after a short break, continue on the left side. Keep right downhill. At km 14.3, turn right. There follows a section difficult for GPS devices. Paths may shift here. At km 14.8, cross Weidenbach. Turn right uphill there and DO NOT follow the path downhill! After another 1.4 km, turn left. Here we join the Black Forest X-ing route and follow it uphill to the left towards Mooskopf. At km 16.3, the uphill trail joins a forest path again. Follow it to the right and follow the X-ing sign. After 2.0 km at the fork, keep left. Continue on the X-ing marked route or on Springhofweg. Continue straight uphill to km 21. Then take a half-right turn. After 800 m, take a sharp right and continue uphill. The path joins a roughly paved road. Continue straight uphill on it. At the top, at km 23.1, continue straight on a wide trail. After 200m, a steep, roughly gravelly ascent goes sharply right up to Mosskopfturm. After conquering the mountain successfully, you can enjoy a break with a great view of the Rhine Valley. Then, a wide but tough trail leads downhill. At the intersection below, keep half-right and follow Moosturmstraße towards Forstköpfle. Optionally, you can take a detour of about 600m straight up to Lothardenkmal. Continue on the path long downhill. At km 25.3, turn sharply right. Always downhill with sharp curves until you come out at a farmhouse. On a paved road, continue downhill on the right towards Durbach. We reach Obertal and continue to Durbach. At the intersection, turn right onto Heimbachstraße and follow the street uphill. At the top, pass the chapel and go downhill again, continuing on the street towards Bottenau. In Bottenau, turn left at km 37.6. The last challenging ascent follows to another chapel. After the chapel, keep left and ride downhill on the street to Herztal and further to Nußbach. In Nußbach, turn left onto Renchtalstraße and immediately turn right beside the church into Bachstraße. Follow Erbbach slightly left towards Nußbacher Straße. Turn right at Nußbacher Straße and continue to Zußenhofen. At the intersection, keep right towards Ulm and Stadelhofen. Follow the bike path to Stadelhofen. After crossing the Rench river, continue through a right curve on Ortenaustraße. After 300m, turn left towards Ulm. Pass the mortuary hall and continue on the bike path towards Ulm. At the roundabout, take the second exit (following the bike path) towards Ulm. At km 45.7, turn left. In Ulm, turn left into Oberkircher Straße and after 50m, turn left towards the sports field and motorhome parking area. Return to the starting point.
