Mountain bike route 6b Landstuhl (short route)
Wonderful views over the Palatinate Forest – this mountain bike route impresses with some highlights!
We have a short route around the town of Landstuhl waiting for us. However, it is definitely recommended: beautiful views, hilly terrain, and flowing trails characterize this round. Right at the beginning of the route, there is a short stretch on the road, the so-called Burgweg. Between the districts, we ride variably over some easier trail sections and forest paths to the Geigerhof forester's lodge. The following slight climb to Hörnchenberg we take on a wide forest road. We pass the Hinkelstein to Bildschacherhof. In the open field, you can enjoy the wonderful view. Then we continue under the Kirchberg to the Bismarck Tower. This tower was designed by architect Wilhelm Kreis and is a lookout tower on Kirchberg. It offers a wonderful view over the town of Landstuhl and was built in honor of the first German Imperial Chancellor Prince Otto von Bismarck. After this highlight, the route continues over a brilliant descent trail back to our starting point.
OUR PATHFINDER RULES
“Out of everyday life – into nature!” A few basic rules help make the MTB route a sustainable experience for both people and nature.
- Only ride on permitted paths. According to the Rhineland-Palatinate State Forest Act, cycling on footpaths and pedestrian paths is not allowed, except for the trails on our routes.
- Leave no trace. Take your rubbish home and protect our trails through your riding style. Avoid braking with locked wheels. Do not cut switchbacks.
- Keep your bike under control. Stay within your comfort zone, adjust your speed to the situation; you must be able to stop within sight! Do not underestimate the technical and physical demands of our routes. Inform yourself in advance.
- Respect other path users. Announce your arrival in good time, preferably with our pathfinder bell! Do not ride on certified hiking trails. Be considerate on paths shared by hikers and mountain bikers. Hikers have priority. Let other path users pass.
- Respect animals in the forest. We move in their habitat. Give them peace and do not disturb them while they feed. Avoid riding at dusk or at night.
- Do not build illegal trails. Use the existing, approved tracks and courses.
- Be a role model. Show through your behaviour how mutual consideration works and that it leads to a good coexistence for all forest users. Help by living these rules.
These rules are based on the Trail Rules of the German Mountain Bike Initiative (www.dimb.de) and the #LoveTrailsRespectRules campaign of Bike Magazine.
