Technical singletracks, steep descents and a varied route.

If climbing is not your thing, but descending even more so... then test your skills and fully enjoy the technical Maxi Avalanche descent between Villars-sur-Ollon and the salt mines of Bex. First you can warm up with the challenging descent from Leysin to Ollon, but the fun is still to come! You really don’t need to be ashamed to walk a bit if necessary, because you wouldn’t have been able to practice this in our flat Flanders!

    Author’s recommendation

Although we always recommend protective gear, it is really a must for this ride.

    • helmet back protector (or backpack)
    • knee and elbow protection
    • goggles and gloves

A full-suspension mountain bike is not necessary, but makes the ride more comfortable!

    Roadbook

Depart from the hotel toward the sports center to descend along the Flot de Crête to the main road. Cross it and dive into the forest. Cross the river via a beautiful bridge and then start the climb to the railway. Descend near the railway until you return to the inhabited area. Here you turn toward Ollon. At the Ollon station, take bus 144 to Villars-sur-Ollon. Hang your bike on the back of the bus, and after a 22-minute ride, get off at the Télé cabine Roc D'Orsay.

Get on the bike and ride toward the main road Avenue Central, but before you reach this road, turn left back into the forest. Here you take the technical Maxi Avalanche descent ending at the salt mine of Bex.

From here, follow the river La Gryonne to the Rhone. Continue following it up to Aigle. Enjoy a refreshing drink and take the train back to Leysin.
