But that is not all the highlights: starting with a nice, long and easy ascent that only becomes very steep but rideable shortly before Kleine Scheidegg, up to a great descent. This takes you from Kleine Scheidegg to Lauterbrunnen with almost 1400 meters of altitude difference, first on a wide gravel path, followed by a single trail. Shady forest paths, steep sections, stairs and tight turns alternate. The easy to medium requirements offer a high fun factor.
Note(s)
Kleine Scheidegg is a popular hiking and excursion destination, so expect many hikers.

Public transport
Public-transport-friendly
Thanks to its central location in Europe, Switzerland is served by international trains from over 12 countries. Within Switzerland, intercity trains run directly from Basel and Lucerne to the Jungfrau Region. Travelers from Zurich change trains in Bern. Trains run every half hour.
Grindelwald
From Interlaken Ost station, you can reach Grindelwald without changing by Berner Oberland Railway (BOB). Important: board the rear part of the train as it splits at Zweilütschinen. Those boarding at the front end up in Lauterbrunnen. The journey takes 30 minutes to Grindelwald Terminal (V-Bahn). Three minutes later, you arrive at the terminus in the village.
In Grindelwald there are three stations (Terminal, Grund and Dorf). The terminus (Dorf) is located in the center of Grindelwald.
Wengen
From Interlaken Ost station, you reach Wengen in 44 minutes. With the blue-yellow train of the Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB) you get to Lauterbrunnen. Important: sit in the front section of the train, as it splits at Zweilütschinen. Those at the back take a detour to Grindelwald. At Lauterbrunnen, change to the yellow-green train of the Wengernalp Bahn (WAB), which takes 12 minutes to Wengen.
Directions
The fastest way to the Jungfrau Region from Basel and Geneva is via Bern. From Zurich, the route via Lucerne and the Brünig Pass is recommended. The pass is open all year round.
From the south, arrival is via Grimsel or Susten Pass into the Jungfrau Region. Both passes are only open in summer. As an alternative, the Simplon Pass with subsequent car shuttle through the Lötschberg tunnel is available.
Grindelwald
From Interlaken, follow the main road to Zweilütschinen. Here, turn left toward Grindelwald. The whole drive takes about 30 minutes and goes over a partly winding route.
Wengen
Wengen is car-free. If you arrive by car, you must park it in Lauterbrunnen and take the train. The drive from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen takes about 20 minutes.
Parking
Grindelwald
There are three public parking garages: Eiger+ garage (252 parking spaces), Sports Center garage (160 spaces) as well as the new Terminal Parking (1000 spaces) of the V-Bahn. Alternatively, you can also use the parking lot at Grindelwald Grund.
Wengen
Directly below Lauterbrunnen station is a multi-story parking garage. Alternatively, the parking lot at the Lauterbrunnen church can be used. From here, a bus runs every half hour to the station. On foot it takes about 10 minutes.
A covered passage leads from the Lauterbrunnen parking garage to the trains to Wengen.
