Experience three countries and three cultures on a motorcycle route in just one day! Breakfast in Slovenia, lunch in Italy, and back for dinner in the motorcycle land Carinthia. This works well in the AT-SI-IT tri-border area and there is still plenty of time for various stops at wonderful viewpoints or traditional inns.

We start at the Marterle in Egg am Faaker See heading north and via the L58 we go to Villach. We reach the B83 which leads us to Hart, where we turn left onto the 1,072 m high Wurzen pass, a border pass from Austria to Slovenia. In Slovenia, we reach Podkoren and turn left towards Kranjska Gora. Passing through the tranquil winter sports resort, we turn south onto road 206, which leads to the 1,611 m high Vršic Pass, known for some hairpin bends paved with cobblestones. Some viewpoints there (Jasna Lake, Heathen Girls, Russian Chapel) are highly recommended! After the descent, we reach the Soča valley, named after the crystal-clear, turquoise natural river Soča. We are now in the Triglav National Park, where there is also a related national park center in Trenta. We travel along the Soča to Bovec, making sure to stop at the great Soča Gorge – a unique natural spectacle! Another highlight awaits us shortly after Bovec with the Boka waterfall, which can be well admired from an easily accessible visitor platform. We continue to Zaga, then first ascend to about 700 m high Uccea/Učja pass, still in Slovenia. We are in the middle of the Julian Alps and cross the Slovenian-Italian border heading west, soon climbing again to the 851 m high Passo di Tanamea. Further through the Val Torre down towards Tarcento, but at Ciseriis it is worth turning right towards Stella in order to reach the SP 20 via Montenars south of Gemona del Friuli. Gemona del Friuli is definitely worth a stop, where you can also reflect on the earthquake tragedy from 1976. After Gemona, the route continues west to Trasaghis on the west side of the Tagliamento River, one of Europe's last wild rivers, because it is unregulated. It briefly goes south to Flagogna, then north via Casiacco, Vito d'Asio, Clauzetto, and Campone to the Lago di Tramonti. Passing through the two towns Tramonti di Sotto and Tramonti di Sopra, it ascends many wonderful hairpin bends up to the 1,060 m high Passo di Rest. Then follows a rapid descent to Mediis where we reach the SS52. We follow this for a few kilometers and then turn right at Socchieve. We cross the Tagliamento River and reach Preone. From here, it ascends to Sella Chiampon at around 800 m above sea level. Via Pozzis, it climbs again to Sella Chianzutan, 954 m high, and a few kilometers further we reach Lago di Verzegnis. At the valley bottom, we cross the Tagliamento River once more and enjoy another break in Tolmezzo. From Tolmezzo, the route continues to Carnia and from there into the Canal Valley on the SS13. At Moggio Udinese, we can leave this and go via Ovedasso, or directly on the SS13 to Chiusaforte. In Chiusaforte, we turn right into the Val Raccolana, which leads us to the 1,190 m high Sella Nevea. Now it goes northeast down to Lago di Predil, then further north to Tarvisio, the main town of the Canal Valley. After Tarvisio, we reach the Italian-Austrian border and drive along the Gailitz to Arnoldstein and from there via B83 to Fürnitz and then on the B85 to Faaker See and thus back to our starting point.
