Experience this unique scenery.
Route 99 runs along the federal road B99 and is characterized by winding sections and two mountain pass crossings. It snakes through the beautiful alpine landscape of the Salzburg and Carinthian mountains.
From Bischofshofen, the 114-kilometer-long road leads to Radstadt in Pongau, then to Untertauern and over the Tauern Pass (highest point of the road).
On the Tauern Pass lies the snowiest winter sports resort in Austria - Obertauern.
Afterwards, the road runs through Tweng, Mauterndorf, and Sankt Michael in Lungau to the Katschberg Pass. The pass connects the Katsch Valley in the municipality of Rennweg am Katschberg in Carinthia with Lungau in Salzburg and the Hohe Tauern in the west with the Gurktal Alps (Nock Mountains) in the east.
Via Rennweg am Katschberg and Gmünd, the road runs along the Lieser to Spittal an der Drau. The Katschberg road is served by the Postbus along its entire length.
