The last daily stage is significantly shorter than the other stages at around 200 km, thus offering plenty of opportunities for spontaneous stops near the coast or in the French hinterland. Off the route, there are two significant geological sights: the high plateau 'Balcons de la Mescla' and the spectacular Verdon Gorge. In clear contrast stands Arles, the destination of the route. The metropolis is one of the oldest cities in France and is interesting not only for culture lovers but also for hiking enthusiasts.
Author’s recommendation
For excursions to the 'Balcons de la Mescla' and the Verdon Gorge, a several-hour stay should be planned. At higher temperatures, a visit should take place in the early morning or evening hours.
