Ötztal Ice Giants
On a great ski route circuit, you can connect Taschach, Vernagt, Guslar, and Gepatsch glaciers and also climb three peaks over 3000 meters.
This three-day high mountain ski tour requires very good physical condition, good visibility, and safe avalanche conditions. Since you spend the second night in a winter room, you must be able to assess the glacier situation well. On the Gepatsch glacier, you should travel roped. Technical key points are the partly exposed summit ascent to the Hinterer Brochkogel (II- UIAA) and the steep descent on the last day from the Hintere Ölgrubenspitze.
Author’s recommendation
You should undertake this route before the Gepatsch glacier is disfigured by new lift facilities. Of course, it is still to be hoped that this dreadful project will not be approved (as of 10/2023).
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
