Stage 1: Saarbrücken - Bischmisheim - Kirkel (23 km)
The first hilly stage leads us along the Tiefeltsbach into the forest and then along the Wogbach into the valley of the Würzbach. Through Reichenbrunn and past Hassel, we hike through the Pirminiusland to the castle in Kirkel.
Stage 2: Kirkel - Zweibrücken (20 km)
From Kirkel, surrounded by seemingly endless forests, we go to Schwarzenacker where we can visit the Roman Museum of the same name and the Wörschweiler monastery ruins. After Kirrberg, we reach Zweibrücken. We should definitely visit the Zweibrücken ducal castle, the ducal suburb, the largest rose garden in Europe, as well as the Alexander and Karl churches.
Stage 3: Zweibrücken - Bottenbach (17 km)
Even before reaching Contwig, we see the St. Laurentius Church and the town's maypole. Now we get closer and closer to the German-French border. In Walshausen, we cross the Felsalbe and continue hiking through sparsely populated areas, alternating between wide fields and small forests.
Stage 4: Bottenbach - Ludwigswinkel (23 km)
We again expect long stretches of untouched nature and in the area of the Palatinate-Lorraine border, we pass through Kröppen to Eppenbrunn, famous for its Buntsandstein formation. The last section to the spa town of Ludwigswinkel then leads us into a splendid forest with numerous streams and ponds. In the Birkenfeld leisure park, we can enjoy some variety and relaxation.
Stage 5: Ludwigswinkel - Bobenthal (21 km)
Three castle ruins await us today: in Petersbächel the Wasigenstein, in Schönau the Blumenstein, and in Nothweiler the Wegelnburg, the highest castle in the Palatinate. At the latest from Nothweiler, we realize that we are in the middle of the Dahner Felsenland and can visit the visitor mine before arriving at the stage goal in Bobenthal.
Stage 6: Bobenthal - Kapsweyer (16 km)
Behind Bobenthal, we reach Sankt Germanshof and here touch the German-French border. Then we go in a long arc to Schweigen-Rechtenbach, which with the German Wine Gate is a special highlight of this long-distance hiking trail. We continue hiking through wide fields and meadows to Kapsweyer.
Stage 7: Kapsweyer - Wörth am Rhein (25 km)
Today we experience a wonderful conclusion to the route and walk leisurely through the Haardtrand and Bienwald nature reserves. Slightly downhill, we pass Bienwaldmühle, with a forest inn for a break, and then hike right through the Bienwald. One last time, we let the pristine beauty of the region affect us and finally reach the destination of the long-distance trail in Wörth am Rhein.
