The large circuit around Liptovská Mara
The route is demanding, with many ascents and descents along dirt roads and paved roads. It passes through touristically interesting locations where there are opportunities for refreshments and swimming. In Liptovský Ján, you can refresh yourself by swimming in the thermal pool, visit the Stanišovská cave, and enjoy numerous attractions for both children and adults. You can get through Závažná Poruba, Iľanovo to the Demänovská Valley via a dirt road. In the campground through which the cycling route passes, accommodation and refreshments are available. In Paučiná Lehota, you can ride the bobsleigh track. Then continue through Lazisko, Dúbrava to Vlachy and to Liptovská Mara. Here you can swim and have refreshments. The northern side of the route is a bit more challenging, with alternating steep sections with descents through the villages of Liptovská Anna, Prosiek, and a steep dirt road to Kvačany. From there, along the road by the dam to Liptovský Trnovec, and by dirt road to Litovské Behárovce. Through Bobrovec and Trstené you descend on a paved road to Liptovský Mikuláš and on a dusty road along Váh River all the way to Liptovský Hrádok.
Author’s recommendation
In the Demänovská Valley, you can explore the Demänovské caves. Near the village of Lazisko, I recommend visiting the wooden Articular Church of the Holy Cross.
