Day 1: Individual arrival in Prien
This route starts in Prien am Chiemsee. The air and Kneipp spa town is located directly on the “Bavarian Sea” and impresses not only with the lakeside promenade but also with a diverse cultural offering. The local history museum, the nostalgic Chiemsee railway and the former craftsmen's quarter with its historic houses are just a few of the town's special features. The fairy-tale castle of King Ludwig II on Herreninsel island and the Frauenwörth monastery on Fraueninsel island are easily reachable by ferry from Prien and are especially worth visiting. Prien also offers both international and traditional cuisine, so the Chiemsee-Alpenland Route starts with good nourishment.
Day 2: Prien am Chiemsee — Bernau am Chiemsee — Aschau i.Ch. — Sachrang — Oberaudorf (approx. 40 km)
The first day of your route takes you from Prien am Chiemsee southwards. Follow the signs to Bernau. From Bernau you have a view of the Kampenwand and continue to Aschau. Take the opportunity to get off your bike briefly in Aschau and relax on one of the benches. Deceleration is the motto of the total of 192 themed benches in the village. Well rested, you now have some elevation to tackle. Along the Alps you reach the town of Sachrang. After Niederndorferberg and Rettenschöss, the day’s destination Oberaudorf is not far away, where you spend the night. For particularly fit athletes, numerous hikes are recommended, but a ride with the Hocheck cable car is also a nice way to end the day.
Day 3: Oberaudorf — Bad Feilnbach — Bad Aibling — Rosenheim — Wasserburg am Inn (approx. 75 km)
Today you cycle a section of the Inn Cycle Path, with an extension via Bad Feilnbach and Bad Aibling. From Oberaudorf you follow the Inn to Flintsbach. There you will find the Falkenstein castle ruins. You leave the Inn Cycle Path heading west and next reach Gmein near Brannenburg. From Brannenburg, the cog railway runs up to Wendelstein with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and the Inn valley. Through the spa towns Bad Feilnbach and Bad Aibling you reach Rosenheim and continue along the Inn. Always heading north, your journey takes you through many small villages past Rott and Griesstätt until you finally reach Wasserburg, where you stay overnight. Wasserburg is almost entirely surrounded by the Inn and is therefore also called “the beloved of the Inn”. Take a stroll through the small town with its colorful house facades and narrow alleys to feel the special atmosphere.
Day 4: Wasserburg am Inn — Amerang — Höslwang — Eggstätt — Breitbrunn am Chiemsee — Prien am Chiemsee (approx. 37 km)
Today's stage brings you back to your starting point in Prien. From Wasserburg, past meadows and fields, the route leads via Evenhausen to Amerang. From there it goes uphill past Amerang castle to Höslwang. In Höslwang you will be rewarded with a very beautiful view of the mountain panorama. Through the hilly landscape you continue towards Eggstätt, past Hartsee lake and always heading towards the Chiemsee until you reach Breitbrunn. Both lakes are very suitable for a short refreshment or a small break with a wonderful view. A few kilometers along the Chiemsee, you finally reach your starting point and overnight stay in Prien via Hochstätt and Westernach.
