Der Entspannende
The Selzbogenrun Selzer Berg leads to the heights above the Selz valley with fantastic wide views, the wine pavilion Zornheim, and the Selzstellung of the First World War. For jogging and hiking.
In the middle of Germany's largest wine-growing region flows the Selz as a small stream. Near Selzen and Hahnheim, the Selz comes from the south, makes a bend to the northeast, and later flows into the Rhine near Ingelheim. Fantastic wide views open up from the Selzer and Zornheimer Berg to the Frankfurt skyline, the Odenwald, and the Donnersberg in the Palatinate. The route can be run ("jogged") and hiked.
Author’s recommendation
- The wine pavilion Zornheim (=> Serving dates and times) is open on Saturdays and Sundays during the hiking season. Winemakers serve there and offer culinary snacks.
- The wine shop of the => Paulinenhof is worth a short stop for browsing and tasting.

Roadbook
From the Generations Activity Park, the route first goes along the Selz, then through Selzen past the sculpture "Selzer Frosch" out to the menhir of Selzen.
The run leads through vineyards past the vineyard hut "Ponderosa" up to the little vineyard house on the Winkel. There, the friendship bench invites you to enjoy the view up to the Frankfurt skyline. On the heights, the chapel in the Zornheim vineyards is a highlight, optionally for meditation and enjoying the view.
The viewpoint "Selzstellung" scores with a wide view up to the Odenwald and the Donnersberg and over the Selz valley. Here was one of the fortress works of the defensive ring around Mainz called "Selzstellung." Had the French army broken through in the First World War, this would probably have been the German "Verdun."
Not much later, the wine pavilion Zornheim, the most beautiful wine view 2020 Rheinhessen, and the Zornheim resting cross lure. Again here, views up to the Frankfurt skyline and over the Selz valley. The route leads down through the vineyards, then past the Paulinenhof winery and through Selzen along the Selz back to the starting point at the Generations Activity Park.
