The tour starts at Pernegg Monastery, which is located in the northern Waldviertel in Lower Austria. Away from the hustle and bustle of traffic, you will find a place that has stood for retreat and inner contemplation for centuries.

The complex dates back to 1153 and was founded by Count Ulrich II von Pernegg. Today, the monastery has been fully restored and combines historical architecture with a clear, peaceful atmosphere. Today, Pernegg Monastery is a modern fasting center with around 50 rooms. The extensive monastery gardens invite visitors to stroll, linger and reflect. A herb labyrinth and a philosophical garden provide additional inspiration for your personal reflection.

The start and finish of the varied and relatively flat 5.95 km route are located directly in front of the Pernegg Monastery fasting center.

The beautiful route is perfect for runners and Nordic walkers alike. However, you should pace yourself, especially on the climbs. From the start and finish point in front of Pernegg Monastery, we run on striking terrain towards the town center. After crossing the road, we run straight ahead, where we soon reach km 1. At km 2, we turn left and continue along the paved path. After 2.3 km, we turn right and continue on ascending terrain.
Shift down a gear on the undulating passages and uphill sections in the middle section of the route. It is important that you feel comfortable in every phase.

The last section takes you through the village and back along the familiar route to the start and finish point in front of Pernegg Monastery, which you reach again after exactly 5,950 varied meters.
