There are probably not many certified running routes with such overwhelming scenic impressions as the "Ankogel" route around Mallnitz.
The route runs through two of Mallnitz's side valleys, the Tauern and Seebach valleys, offering ever new, fascinating views of the mountain world of the Hohe Tauern National Park!

Due to the altitude (1,200 - 1,300 m) this route is also ideal for training, as the body reacts to physical activity at this altitude with increased production of red blood cells, thereby improving oxygen uptake capacity, which leads to enhanced endurance.

The entire route is signposted (route variant 3 - "Ankogel")

From the Mallnitz village center via the sports field to the so-called "Hengstenbergweg". Following this, past the Mallnitz visitor center into the Tauern valley. Near the inn Gutenbrunn, the route changes to the other side of the valley and leads back to the edge of the village, then onto the "Ebelingweg" into the Seebach valley.
Near the valley station of the Ankogel cable car, the route turns again and leads along the foot of the Auernig mountain back into the village. Through an underpass below the railway, it goes directly into the village center and back to the starting point.
