The Country Skate begins in Frauenfeld and runs to Matzingen on simple, flat sections. Subsequently, the route leads into slightly elevated, hilly terrain and into beautiful landscapes. It is amazing how far the view extends deep into the Alpstein region.
The southern section between Wil and Turbenthal mostly runs on bike paths, often parallel to the roadway. Bichelsee awaits as an ideal bathing spot to rest and recharge with a grilled sausage and a subsequent, wet cooldown. Up to Turbenthal, the path then mostly follows a separate bike path.
The Country Skate also forms an alternative to the Mittelland Skate. It connects the Murgtal, Wil, Hinterthurgau, and Bichelsee to this route from every side. So those who want to avoid the urban skating through Winterthur choose this quieter and lovelier option.
