The TROPFAD – A hiking adventure around Troisdorf 🌳🚶♂️
Discover Troisdorf from a whole new perspective! The TROPFAD takes you on an approximately 50 km circular route along the outer borders of our city, divided into four varied stages. This hike not only lets you experience the beauty of nature but also discover exciting sights and historic places.
Start and finish: Fishing Museum Bergheim/Sieg Marking: circular route, mostly on paved field and forest paths, partly asphalted
From the Fishing Museum in Bergheim, you first follow the path through open fields. Shortly after, you reach the small Immakulata Chapel ("et Heckelches Hellijehüsje") near Mondorfer See. Then it continues past the Antoniuskreuz with a great panoramic view, then towards Spich, where the first section ends at Spich station.
Behind Spich, the path leads into the wide landscape of the Wahner Heide and reaches the Heidekönig inn with a small detour. The path winds further through the protected area, past heathland. The goal of the second stage is the Jägerhof in Altenrath.
The third stage runs around Altenrath and along the Agger river up to Frankfurter Straße in central Troisdorf. Refreshment options are the Jägerhof and the restaurant "Zur alten Fähre" on the Agger (please note opening hours).
On the fourth stage, the path approaches the Sieg. You follow the course of the Agger, pass the Agger weir with the salmon station, and observe cormorants at Sieglarer See. Along the Siegauen, the path leads to the restaurant "Zur Siegfähre" – including a view of the namesake ferry. Shortly before the finish, the path passes a grey heron breeding colony.
After around 50 kilometers, you return to the starting point at the Fishing Museum – with many impressions from nature, history, and culture of Troisdorf in your luggage.
Directly at the start and finish point of the TROPFAD, next to the Fishing Museum in Troisdorf-Bergheim, the inn Zum Bootshaus invites you to refresh yourself.

Safety information
The route passes directly through a key breeding area for lapwing, partridge, and skylark on the first stage. For this reason, the designated paths must not be left.
In the Wahner Heide (stages 2 and 3), the path network cleared by the ordnance disposal service must be strictly followed.
The Wahner Heide is a valuable nature reserve with a special history. Parts of the area were formerly used militarily and are still in use today by the Bundeswehr.
Therefore, special caution is required:
Stay on the marked paths. Leaving the paths poses a danger to life due to possible munition remnants and military activities.
Do not enter fenced-off or marked military areas.
Follow all warning and information signs as well as temporary barriers that may be set up, for example, during exercises.
Do not touch suspicious objects – they could be dangerous.
With your caution, you protect yourself, other visitors, and nature.
The last part of the 4th stage becomes impassable at a Rhine water level of 4.30 meters in Bonn. Here hikers must take the route via Nachtigallenweg in Bergheim. Trails at the Sieglarer See that lead directly from hiking paths to the lake, for example, must not be used.
Roadbook
The route starts at the Fishing Museum in Bergheim, leads through the fields past Kriegdorf to Spich. Then a section through the Spich industrial area before immersing in the Wahner Heide. Afterwards it goes past the heath village Altenrath and approaches the sight of Cologne/Bonn Airport. Again, the path crosses the eastern heath, briefly into Altenrath and then down into the valley of the Sülz, which soon flows into the Agger. In the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte district, the Agger flows into the Sieg, and we are also there. Soon we reach Sieglarer See and then find ourselves in the Siegauen, the Sieg estuary draws near. A backwater is crossed via a wooden bridge and then we stand at the mouth of the Sieg into the Rhine. Now it is only 500 m to the destination, the Fishing Museum in Bergheim!
