Safety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees can still fall or branches fall down afterward. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is sometimes required. You must expect path impairments of this kind when undertaking a hike. If you think certain sections are not passable for you, then you should bypass them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures due to forest work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we might not be informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Roadbook
The hike starts in Reipoltskirchen (Hauptstraße parking lot), with the former water castle, which has become a true gem after its renovation by the Kusel district. The flooded moat and the geometric plant arrangements offer a beautiful sight. We follow the "Veldenz-Wanderweg" marking, a hiking trail certified according to the European standard "Leading Quality Trail."
The hiking trail around the water castle leads over a sculpture trail, which was newly laid out in recent years (stations – see under author's tip!).
After many fantastic views, we reach the Wolfersheck hill to the marking "Yellow Bar," which we follow southwest (uphill).
Over the Galgen and Simpterberg, we reach the country road K 41, which on the right takes us to Hohenöllen, where we encounter the "Veldenz-Wanderweg" again.
In Hohenöllen, there is a magnificent view of the "Lauter loop."
Quiet forests and the babbling of the Sulzbach, which we cross, invite you to dream.
After the Hobstätter Hof, with its restaurant "Der Pferdestall," we reach the 4th stage destination, the Ausbacherhof, an agricultural family business with direct marketing as well as a learning and adventure farm. The snack bar "Rusticus" offers guests a refreshment station; a farm café has been completed.
From the Ausbacherhof, we descend into the Odenbach valley – the path leads around the Steinkopf and along beautiful narrow forest paths. At the forest edge, the view opens up to the Odenbach valley, and soon the community of Reipoltskirchen comes into sight, the destination of our hike.

Equipment
For our hikes, we recommend the following equipment as standard:
- Sturdy footwear
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Sun and rain protection
- Sufficient supply of food and drinks, as not everywhere are there options to eat or shop available or open.
