Starting from Einruhr, the circular tour heads west into the forest along the Rur river and its pre-dam basin. After a short time, you reach the Eifelblick Wolfshügel, which offers a beautiful view of the village Einruhr and the picturesque Rur reservoir with its densely forested rocky slopes. The massive Rur bridge visible in the foreground was built in the 19th century and was the first stone bridge to cross the Rur. In good visibility, the view extends to the district of Düren near Nideggen-Schmidt, where the spire of the church tower can be seen in the distance.

You then traverse the wooded slopes of the Rur valley and finally enter the Langerscheid nature reserve. Here you can discover many different animal and plant species, as well as an original drawing by painter Paul Siebertz. The famous Eifel painter was out here at the Püngelbach with his students and whimsically decorated a sign in a shelter.

Shortly thereafter, the forest chapel Erkensruhr lies along the path. Since the 1980s, people have come to the forest chapel above Erkensruhr to pray to the holy Mary. The image of Mary is located inside a tree trunk. Numerous thank-you plaques, rosaries, and burning candles inside the chapel reflect the spiritual retreat. From the chapel, there is a great view of the Erkensruhr valley. Afterwards, you hike back along the valley to the starting point in Einruhr.
