Circular route around Klingenmünster with interesting
views of the village, vineyards, and the Palatinate Forest
Klingenmünster was the state winner in 2014 in the competition “Our Village has a Future” and recipient of the 1st Demography Award of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The castles Landeck, Schlössel, and Heidenschuh, the monastery in the town center, the Nikolaus Chapel, and the Martin Tower are gems along the Southern Wine Route and cultural-historical treasures of supraregional importance. On discovery tours, they tell exciting stories. The hiking trails Castle Trail, Karlsplatz Trail, Panorama Trail, and Spring Trail open up a charming landscape with southern flair.
Klingenmünster is a stage destination of supraregional hiking trails, e.g., the Palatinate Wine Trail, Almond Trail, and Chestnut Trail, as well as the literary August Becker Hiking Trail. They lead through lush vegetation, vineyards, and chestnut forests with many viewpoints and rest areas. Culinary delights and fine wines are part of Klingenmünster hospitality.

In general:
Especially in autumn, it should be noted that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rains, trees may still fall, or branches may fall afterwards. Particularly in adverse weather conditions, there can be muddy and slippery sections on natural paths. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you think certain sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.
Roadbook
The Panorama Trail invites you to walk around Klingenmünster. It runs along the heights of the hills planted with grapevines, ascends the slopes that border the Palatinate Forest to the Rhine Plain, and crosses the charming meadows of the Klingbach valley. The starting point can be chosen individually, as can the destination – from everywhere there are direct path connections to the village.
The circular route opens many interesting views of Klingenmünster and its sights. Along the way are the late Romanesque Nikolaus Chapel, the Johanna Spring, and the castle ruins of Landeck. Along the edge of the forest, the panoramic view over the Rhine Plain extends to the Black Forest. At the most beautiful viewpoints, resting places invite you to linger.

Equipment
For our hiking tours, we recommend the following equipment as standard:
Sturdy footwear
Weather-appropriate clothing
Sun and rain protection
A sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always opportunities to stop or shop available or open everywhere.
Even though the paths are consistently very well marked, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable hiking map so that you can quickly find a safe area in case of thunderstorms or emergencies.
