Circular route to the trout breeding station and the Eußerthal sanatorium
At the parking lot at the village community center turn left onto the main street, then turn left into Haingeraidestraße. Now follow the village street straight ahead. At the fork in the road at the Birkenthaler Hof (possibility to stop for refreshments) turn right into Birkental. At Schweinswoog leave the road to the right. At the next intersection turn right and follow the path south around Walterskopf. At the large intersection at Eischkopf walk with the Pfälzer Weinsteig to the sanatorium. Those who want to shorten can follow the Pfälzer Weinsteig back to Eußerthal at the intersection. At the fork before the sanatorium turn right and follow the path below the sanatorium. At the last building turn right into the hiking trail that leads back below the small Eischkopf to Eußerthal. The circular route ends in the village at Haingeraidestraße, which you must follow right to the junction with the main street to return to the starting point.
UFFBASSE! – campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Always behave foresightedly, kindly, and considerately to everyone you meet on your way.
- Respect nature, do not damage plants, and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
- Carry a garbage bag for on the way and take your waste back home.
- Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- Observe all trail closures for your own safety, even on weekends.
- Park only in designated parking areas. Leave space for emergency vehicles and agricultural machines.
- Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

Safety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches may drop afterwards. In adverse weather conditions, natural paths can be muddy and slippery in places. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. At some points, surefootedness is required. You should expect such path impairments when hiking. If you think certain sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures due to forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there may be situations where hiking trails are closed and we have not been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Equipment
For our hikes we recommend the following equipment as standard:
- Sturdy footwear
- Clothing adapted to the weather
- Sun and rain protection
- Sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always places to stop or shops available or open.
- Even though the paths are very well marked throughout, it is recommended to always carry a suitable hiking map for safety reasons, so that you can quickly find a safe area in case of a thunderstorm or emergency.
