Zermatt has one of the largest wildlife areas in Switzerland. Many chamois live here. Depending on the season, mothers with their somewhat larger kids can be spotted, perhaps also young bucks or even a whole herd. Allow enough time for observing; time passes quickly.
Some animals lie relaxed on the ground, which makes them hardly visible to untrained eyes. But if you look around calmly, at the rock ledges and alpine meadows, you suddenly discover them.

- Carefully plan every mountain tour and adapt it to your own conditions as well as the weather and season.
- The weather can change quickly in the mountains. Therefore, bring suitable clothing and enough provisions and water. Turn back in time in case of uncertain weather.
- Inform others about the tour and if possible never go alone.
- Do not leave marked paths and do not go on glaciers without a mountain guide.
- Be considerate of other hikers as well as plants and animals.
- Observe the warning signs that draw attention to the constant danger in the riverbed and on the banks of watercourses below dams and water intakes.
Attention! In spring, the path may not be passable because snow is still present.
