The circular hike on the B2 in the east of Bonefeld offers us both nature with panoramic views over fields and meadows and fresh, clear forest air as well as culture in the form of the old Celtic grave with monument. The Bonefelder Heide biotope with its Heidschnucken sheep is a rarity, as there are very few heathland areas left in Rhineland-Palatinate. In May 2013, a small herd of gray horned Heidschnucken was introduced here. This breed of sheep is ideal for maintaining the heathland, see also NABU Rengsdorf . The Heidschnucken, but also the heath itself, have a wonderfully calming effect on us and it is simply a pleasure to watch the animals. The hiking trail is also suitable for families, not least because of the sheep, and is mostly on natural and gravel paths without any major inclines. At the end of our hike, we can even get some exercise, as station 8 of the vitality trail is on our way. There is plenty of variety on offer!
