03 Leinsweiler - From Annweiler station to place 3 Leinsweiler (via Trifels Castle)
This stage takes you from Annweiler station to place No. 3 Leinsweiler. If you can plan two to three hours, you should definitely take a detour via the three castles.
Just remember to add the additional 0.7 km from the hiking junction Zollstock to place No. 3 to the distance indicated in this tour proposal.
You will receive the detailed route description to the site directly with your booking confirmation.
CAREFUL! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Fire & Smoking - Making fires, smoking, and grilling in the forest are strictly prohibited and absolutely to be avoided! Fires and thus major damages to nature and wildlife can only be prevented this way.
- Be Considerate on the Trail - Always behave thoughtfully, kindly, and considerately towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Nature Protection - Stay on designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature. Leave the forest at dusk at the latest to avoid disturbing the rhythm of nocturnal animals.
- Picnic & Waste - Remember a trash bag for the way and take your waste back home. Use only the furnished rest areas for breaks and picnics.
- Leash Dogs - Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

Equipment
Since the trekking sites on the Southern Wine Route are located somewhat away from the villages and common hiking trails, you should of course carry the appropriate trekking equipment with you.
Here we want to give you a little checklist of what should not be missing in your backpack:
Clothing/Rain Protection: All-weather suitable clothing is always an advantage - even on the sunny Southern Wine Route it can unfortunately rain sometimes.
Sleeping: Should not be missing in the backpack - tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, bivy sack, or other equipment...
Food: Water bottle and/or thermos flask, stove with fuel and provisions, cutlery/dishes, can opener, lighter, pocket knife, pots and water container, garbage bags Washing: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel, comb, razor...
Emergency/Health: Personal medications, first aid kit, cough drops, insect repellent, tick remover, sunscreen, mobile phone, emergency numbers, and ID card
Orientation: GPS device, hiking maps, binoculars, compass, travel guide
Luxury: Books, games, and entertainment for cozy gatherings around the campfire
Refreshments: Many different dining options in the nearby towns. Huts of the Palatinate Forest Association and the Nature Friends are usually open on weekends and holidays (partly also Wednesdays). You have to bring your own water. With a small grill grate or even a foldable camping grill, you could create a great meal on the campfire. But grilled sausages on a stick also taste excellent in nature...
Other: Camera, toilet paper, lock, flashlight, batteries,
And of course, you should always have your booking confirmation for the trekking sites on the Southern Wine Route with you in your backpack....
