This short circular hike is exceptionally scenic.
The wild romantic Zimitzbach with its green moss-covered stones and a small waterfall is a natural jewel that can exert a very special charm at any time of the year.
Thus, the described round is recommended not only as a family hike in summer, when the Seidlhütte at Zimitzalm is managed, but also as a bad weather and off-season tour for demanding hikers.
Additionally, the nearby Grundlsee offers seasonally quite different, but always very attractive impressions.
Author’s recommendation
You can also do the Zimitzalm round as an extension of the Grundlsee circuit.

Grundlsee CircuitRoadbook
From the Schachen car park, follow a signpost "Pühringerhütte" and red markings first along a driveway and soon after to the right into the forest on a footpath uphill (signboard "Gößlalm"). You cross a forest road and continue following the markings towards Pühringerhütte. Behind another forest road, you continue uphill on a marked pull path diagonally to the right. Passing a junction downhill to the village of Gößl, you reach the first signpost "Zimitzalm". At the following fork, keep left towards Gößlalm and follow a green sign "hiking trail to Zimitzalm". You cross the access to a hunting lodge and shortly afterwards reach a forest road junction. Here you turn left onto a driveway (yellow sign "Zimitzalm"). Shortly after a sharp left curve, you leave this path again and follow the sign "Zimitzalm" onto a trail down to the right into the forest. Soon you reach the forest road again, follow it for a short distance to the right, and then turn left into the forest at a green sign. The downhill path soon leads into a driveway, which you follow left to Zimitzalm.
The return route is indicated by a green sign "Grundlsee" at a wooden bridge below the large meadow at Zimitzalm. You walk downhill on a wide alpine path, which soon crosses to the right side of the brook. Along the idyllic Zimitzbach, you descend to a left fork, where a short but steep descent leads down to a small viewing platform by a waterfall. Afterwards, you return to the main path and continue downhill. Finally, the alpine path leaves the Zimitzbach valley and forks behind a paved left curve. Here, the left and unmarked path branch leads directly down to the Schachen mill, where you turn left back to the starting point.
