Wolfach settlers' loop small round

The nearly 5 km long loop starts at the Weihermatte playground, located on the right at the exit of Wolfach towards Oberwolfach. From the start and information board, the path ascends, initially following the paved Rothekreuzbergstraße and Schlößleweg, passing the Steffelsbach fountain. The path winds along a narrow footpath on a mossy surface until the signpost location board "Steffelsbach" is reached. The namesake brook has its source here above. A seating area, a fountain with fresh cool spring water, and a great wooden marble run invite you to pause.

Crossing the small spring river, the trail continues uphill through the high forest to the wide Frauenwaldweg. At 450 m elevation lies the highest point of the hike. (Here access to the "Large Siedlerschleife" is possible.)

Following the flat Frauenwaldweg further leads to the junction "Weiherlochquelle." Slightly descending, the route goes in the direction of "Am Burggraben." There, the path merges into the "Large Loop," which then jointly leads over the "Knecht-Ruprecht bench" with a view of the Schlößle and a detour to the Schlößle castle ruins, back to the starting point. Shortly before the end of the hike, the shady grill area "Weiherloch" and a beautifully restored "beverage fountain" invite you to take a break.
