The romantic holiday and wine village Dörrenbach, also called "Sleeping Beauty of the Palatinate," was awarded in 1975 as the most beautiful village on the Wine Route. The state-recognized spa town with 1,000 inhabitants is one of our most popular holiday destinations, near the Wine Route yet magically peaceful. Perhaps first stroll through the picturesque village center with half-timbered houses, a magnificent Renaissance-style town hall and the medieval fortified church.
In Dörrenbach you will find 40 km of the most beautiful hiking trails: through sweet chestnut and mixed forests, over sunny wine slopes, to the Kolmerberg chapel and the Stäffelsberg, with magnificent views. You have the choice of hiking trails from the "Palatinate Wine Trail" to quality hiking trails around the village: Way of Views, Sleeping Beauty circular hiking trail, Brothers Grimm fairy tale trail. Then treat yourself to a visit in one of the cozy Dörrenbach wine taverns! www.doerrenbach.de

General advice:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes on the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees may still fall or branches break off afterwards. Particularly in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain sections of the path are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forest work or hunting parties on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. Should you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.
Roadbook
If you prefer to have everything on a single path: shady forests, meadow paths, sunny wine slopes, wide views? Then welcome to the new "Way of Views"! It leads you from the parking lot to the bus stop, then over the meadow path, through Dörrenbach vineyards and forests to the old Kolmerberg chapel, to the wide view from the Stäffelsberg tower and over forest paths and wine slopes back to Dörrenbach.
Immerse yourself in splendid sweet chestnut and mixed forest. Let your gaze wander: over wine slopes to the Rhine plain or from the Stäffelsberg tower across the Palatinate Forest and Alsace to the Black Forest. Then hike through romantic Dörrenbach, past the Renaissance-style town hall, the old fortified church, beautiful half-timbered houses and cozy wine taverns.

Equipment
For our hiking routes, we recommend the following standard equipment:
Sturdy footwear
Weather-appropriate clothing
Sun and rain protection
A sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always places to eat or shop available or open everywhere.
Even though the paths are consistently well marked, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable hiking map, so that, for example, in the event of a thunderstorm or emergency, you can quickly find a safe area.
