Through Annweiler am Trifels, you walk past Trifelsruhe and Wasgaublick to the imposing rock massif Asselstein. The subsequent ascent to the lookout tower on the Rehberg is worthwhile just for the view over the Wasgau and the castles Trifels, Anebos, and Scharfenberg (Münz). The return route then leads downhill to Bindersbach. At the spa park, it goes back to the starting point of the hike at the town hall.
Health tips: This hike includes some elevation to overcome. Therefore, pay attention to your breathing. As long as you can have a normal conversation uphill with your hiking partner, you have the right pace. If this is not possible, hike a bit slower. For knee problems, please observe our tips for knee-friendly hiking.

Roadbook
The circular hiking route starts at the town hall in Annweiler am Trifels. First, the path leads north to the old watermill, where you turn into the picturesque Gerbergasse. Then it goes left past the Annweiler hospital and continues via a footpath to Südring. You cross it diagonally to the right and hike uphill via Brunnenring until you reach the street "Zum Honigsack." A meadow path, which is easy to overlook, branches off to the right after a few meters. This path turns into a forest trail and leads you up to Klingelberg. At the next two intersections, keep right each time and hike along the western flank of the mountain ridge. The path flows into a broader hiking trail, which you follow shortly to the right, then leave again to the left at the next opportunity. In switchbacks, it climbs steeply through the Annweiler city forest and the beautifully designed area of the natural burial site Trifelsruhe. Then you pass the viewpoint at the Willi-Achtermann-Hütte with a magnificent view of the Trifels castle and continue on the hiking trail to the Wasgaublick viewpoint with an impressive panoramic view over the green mountain ridges of the southern Palatinate Forest. Now it goes on a broader grass path toward the northeast. Take a small forest path branching off to the right, which leads steeply down to the road. The markings now guide you to the impressive rock massif Asselstein and then to the climbers' hut, where you can refresh yourself with Palatine specialties. From the nearby hiking parking area, you can make a detour to the lookout tower on the Rehberg, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the southern Palatinate and the three castles Trifels, Anebos, and Scharfenberg (Münz) as well as the just explored Asselstein. After this detour, follow the path downhill past the Rehberg spring back to the Rehberg hiking parking area. Here you keep right toward the north, then turn right again at a large clearing and descend in a zigzag into the Bindersbach valley. From there, you reach Annweiler am Trifels through the idyllic valley and the spa park. At the end of the park, turn left through Burgstraße and Hauptstraße back to the Rathausplatz, our starting point.
