Vulkaneifel Path: Schneifel Path E1 (Kronenburg-Schwarzer Mann)
From the picturesque Kronenburg, across meadows and fields through deep forests, we cross the Venn to the highest point of the Schneifel, the Schwarzer Mann.
The Schneifel Path starts in the idyllic artist village Kronenburg in the Upper Kyll valley.
Nothing is more inspiring to an artist than beautiful, rustic landscapes, old, dreamy villages, and castle sites like the secluded low mountain range landscape of the Eifel. Consequently, many artists have "worked on" the beauty of the barren Eifel here as well. In Kronenburg, an artist residence has emerged that has honored its name since the 19th century until today through numerous great works reflecting the land and nature of the Eifel.
On the Schneifel Path in a southwesterly direction, one is very quickly transported into a secluded natural world with tall beech and oak forests and shady spruce stands. In between, numerous moors and small watercourses testify to the high rainfall of the Schneifel. Let your soul dangle, leave everyday life behind, you can do that here in the varied landscape of the Schneifel and the Kyll forest.

Roadbook
Kronenburgerhütte – Schwarzer Mann
The small Dahlem district Kronenburgerhütte is the starting point for the 1st stage of the Schneifel Path. It starts at the small, worth-seeing chapel and the stone bridge over the Kyll. The route follows Steinertstraße through the village, then switches to the ascending paved road at the edge of the village. The path runs briefly along the forest edge, passes a shelter, and continues to climb into the forest, which is then crossed on a nearly level gravel path. After a long left curve, a path branches off to the right, which later descends steeply into the valley of the Taubkyll. Here turn left to the district road and follow it about 100 meters to the right. Shortly after crossing the Dreisbach, keep right and continue past the fish ponds and later parallel to a country road to the left, until reaching Ormont. The village is crossed via Kyll-, Ulmen-, and Schneifelstraße, then it goes on a meadow path to a spruce forest. At the forest edge turn right, cross the country road, and at the next intersection turn left. Now continue through a forest area. Shortly after a small clearing and a pond, cross a federal road, then continue steadily through the extensive forest area. About 400 meters after a distinctive clearing caused by windthrow, keep left and follow the path parallel to the country road, past the legendary chain cross, until the winter sports facility "Schwarzer Mann". A resting place is offered year-round by the attached inn.
