Vorderstoder - Hinterstoder via Schafferteiche and Steyrsbergerreith

We start our route in the town center of Vorderstoder, where about 200 meters from the Church Square the meadow path towards Schafferteiche begins. First, it goes downhill for a bit, we cross the stream and come onto the road towards the Schafferteiche parking lot. After about 20 minutes we reach the idyllic pond area. We stay on the good gravel path, passing the mountain rescue hut. From there the moderate ascent begins, always staying on the forest road on the way to the Steyrsbergerreith Alm. After about two hours of walking, we reach the beautiful alpine pasture area with magnificent views of the outskirts of the Tote Gebirge. According to the plans of the HiWu ski company, a mid-station for the new ski area between Hinterstoder and Vorderstoder is to be built here. Nothing will remain of the current idyll then.
We cross the alpine meadow and then take the hiking trail towards Hinterstoder. We must be attentive at the next junction. An inconspicuous forest path branches off to the left after about 15 minutes. From now on, it descends gently to moderately towards the Loigistal. Where a large clear-cut took place in 2021 and the forest floor was severely damaged, HiWu plans to build a large storage reservoir for the snowmaking system of the new ski area. Now we follow the old cart path through the forest for another 30 minutes until we reach the first houses of the small village of Wartegg. At the first farm, it goes sharply left, downhill over a beautiful meadow path down to the Loigistal settlement. There, it goes left again, further to Hotel Gressenbauer, through the courtyard and back onto a nice meadow and forest path that leads us directly to the main road to Hinterstoder. We do not take the road but rather the narrow sidewalk on the left and come directly to the large parking lot in the town center.
