    Tips and suggestions

    • There are cafes and public restrooms located at the top of both Fløyen and Ulriken.

    Roadbook

Starting the adventure from Fløyen and hiking to Ulriken is the recommended route. Hike your way to the top of the Fløyen, the viewpoint over Bergen, or take the cable car. From the top of Fløyen, follow the route towards Brushytten and Rundemanen. After Rundemanen, you will pass the northern edge of the lake Tindevatnet to the east and then follow the trail down towards Hyttalien.

Continue northeast and around the northwest side of the mountain, Midtfjellet. The trail will turn southeast and will follow a ridgeline for 2,5 kilometers to Borgaskaret. The trail will then turn south as you reach the plateau. Follow in this direction for another few kilometers until turning west at the peak of Ulriken. From Ulriken, you can return to Bergen on the cable car or you can hike down the mountain on the marked trail.

This adventure takes around 5 hours, one-way. If you choose to hike up to Fløyen and down from Ulriken, add at least 1-2 hours.

Hello. This is a beautiful hike and it is possible to do his hike in December but i would not recommend it this time of year unless you are very experienced. It is steep, be prepared for shifting weather conditions, snow and frozen/slippery tracks so you need to be very careful and be prepared. Again, a beautiful hike but not something i would recommend doing wintertime.

But if there is no snow at the time, and the weather is fine, it is absolutely doable. But bear in mind that the days are short in December and you should start immediately after start of daylight in the morning. It is difficult, cold and possibly dangerous to walk there in the dark. There are no street lights up there. Just a pretty uneven track and some steep areas.
