Roadbook
Ascent of the Türnitzer Höger: Follow the red markings from the former train station along the beach bath, then turn right over the rail-bike path toward Türnitzer Hut. At the end of a meadow cross a festival area (wooden booths) and continue on the forest road into a lovely little valley with intense pine forest atmosphere. After a wayside shrine for a simple forest devotion, ascend in switchbacks. From the forest road, take a steeper path through a ravine up to a forest ridge at 780 m. There is the first rock formation (natural monument). Transition to Geyerstein, 885 m, and a steeper, pathless detour to the scenic summit rock. 1 1/2 hours.
Now a rolling passage on a partly narrow and sometimes exposed ridge path heading east, passing interesting rock formations repeatedly. After a descending section reach a saddle (forest road) and beyond that ascend more clearly again. Through denser spruce forest to a cozy beech forest ridge, bypassing point 1174 m on the south side. A gently ascending passage leads to a steeper, slightly rocky upslope, and then follow the last steps to the summit cross, 1372 m, (fantastic Alpine views from Schneeberg over Ötscher and Hochschwab to the Gesäuse) and to the nearby small Türnitzer Hut. 2 hours.
Transition to the Gschwendt Hut and descent to Hohenberg: Across the summit meadow, then through forest to a saddle at point 1044 m. Here leave the forest road diagonally left to the forest edge and over the rolling ridge to Stadelberg, 1226 m. Above a pasture, transition to Linsberg. Just before the highest point at the base station of a former drag lift turn left and descend to the Gschwendt Hut, 1072 m. 1 3/4 hours.
Pass by the Schneeberg bench and take the fairly steep access road to the large parking lot and continue toward Hohenberg/Bergerhöhe. A short ascent leads to Kiensteinberg, which is bypassed on the south side (watch for the forest path junction to the right). Then descend more clearly to a rest area. Shortly after, a distinct turn off left from the forest path leads down around the edge of a beautiful meadow (Snowberg view). After a flatter zigzag section descend steeply, then follow a drive path to the cemetery, out to the church and to the train station. 1 1/2 hours.
