An appealing and historically rich approximately 11 km long circular route through idyllic valleys, tranquil forests, and past several fountains around Bexbach-Frankenholz. The hiking trail is named after the Renaissance scholar Tilemann Stella, who, as a cartographer and surveyor, conducted a land survey in 1563/64 on behalf of the Duchy of Palatinate-Zweibrücken and measured and described the Höcherberg region in this context.
The approximately 11 km long circular hiking route starts at the St. Josef church or the community center in Frankenholz and follows the Marienweg on many sections. From here, the path leads to the grave monument of August Ferdinand Culmann, the founder of the Frankenholz mine and member of the Paulskirche, then through the Buchwald forest past the new Marien-Bildstock to the romantic Feilbach valley up to the Marien-Marterl of the Hau family. Then the path crosses the meadow area in the “Toter Krieger” field with a view of the mountain village Frankenholz dominated by the church and Schiller school, and leads to the first of a total of five fountains, the Hofwiesenbrunnen. Through the wild and romantic Klemmloch valley, one comes to Karlsbrunnen, then to Hollerbrunnen and Bruderbrunnen, and reaches the so-called “Panoramastraße” with wide views over the Ostertal up to the Hochwald, the “senses benches” and then the Tilemann-Stella-Platz, where several signs provide information about Tilemann Stella and the “Stone Man”, of which a cast is displayed here. From here the path leads to Frankenbrunnen and then back to the village square and finally to the community fountain at the community center.
