The De Maasduinen National Park in the southeast of the Netherlands stretches along the Maas and offers a diverse landscape of forests, heathlands, moors, dunes, and lakes.
This varied environment is home to numerous animal species, including various bird species, reptiles, and amphibians.
A particularly attractive circular hike leads around the Eendenmeer near Nieuw Bergen. Part of the path runs over a boardwalk, providing a direct view of the water. Frogs, dragonflies, and various water birds can often be observed in the area.
The De Maasduinen National Park is known for its river dune landscape, which was formed during the last Ice Age through the interplay of wind and water. These dunes, combined with the surrounding moors and heathlands, offer a unique nature experience.
Several reception points with parking facilities are available for visitors in the park. From there, well-marked hiking trails lead through the various landscapes of the park. Dogs are allowed on the paths but must be kept on a leash.
