The tour around Straubenhardt is a varied round trip between Black Forest heights and gentle valleys. Over about 15 kilometers, you discover a landscape that constantly changes its face: bright forests, open highlands, idyllic streams, and wide views characterize this enjoyable tour. Time and again, beautiful distant views open over the northern Black Forest and the adjacent ridges.
The tour is named after the three valleys - Axtbach Valley, Pfinzbach Valley, and the valley at Feldrennacher Bächle - which the path connects and which give the hike its special rhythm. Sometimes you follow quietly babbling streams, sometimes you hike through sunny meadow landscapes and quiet forest sections. Numerous rest areas and benches along the way invite you to consciously enjoy nature and regain strength.
A special highlight is the elevation around the Schwanner Warte, where wide views open up over the region and the panorama lets the gaze wander into the distance.
Author’s recommendation
At the Schwanner Warte, several places to rest invite you to a delicious break - including a panoramic view from the terrace.
Along the tour, you follow the green signposts with the "Albtal.Touren" logo at intersections and the diamond of the Black Forest Association on the paths themselves.
Roadbook
The starting point of the tour is at the hiking parking lot at Schwanner Warte. From here, follow the hiking trail (blue diamond) westwards. Along the gliding airfield, it goes on the Panorama Trail with wonderful views to the forest edge. Shortly after turning off the paved road, a path leads into the forest. At the road, follow the gravel path west until another path turns left and leads to the Axtbach Valley parking lot. Here you cross the forest road and hike along the idyllic path partly bordered by meadows along the Axtbach to the forest edge. Here turn left, cross the stream, and shortly after turn right onto a forest path towards Langenalb. Follow it through forest and meadows to the town. Follow Quellenstraße to the right, cross the main road, and hike out of Langenalb again on Jägerstraße. Follow the paved road for a while, then take the second field path on the left. Through the meadows, past the sources of the Pfinz, follow the path to the forest edge and continue along it. Here you meet another hiking trail (yellow diamond), which you follow along the forest edge northeastwards. After crossing a road, turn left at the next main signpost and immediately turn right onto a forest path that follows the Feldrennacher Bach. Here you can take a break and cool your feet in the water. Then take the hiking trail southwards, but at the next crossroads turn left and follow the Feldrennacher Bach through gentle meadows to a bridge. Cross the stream here and follow the path on the other side of the stream to Feldrennach. The town is always crossed straight along the stream. At Schwanner Straße, the path crosses and leads up to the forest edge and there along the cemetery into Conweiler. Follow the signposted hiking trail to the Roman Dreikönigsstein. From here, follow Ganzhornweg, pass the church, go along Allmendstraße to the town boundary. Shortly before, follow the meadow path along the town edge, turn right at the end, left at the water reservoir until you reach Dennacher Straße. Follow this to the airfield, but turn left before and follow the path back to the hiking parking lot at Schwanner Warte.
