In the Pfälzer Gäu between Edenkoben and Speyer, this easy-to-manage route leads along beautiful paths through vineyards, as well as vegetable fields and meadows. You will also learn a lot of historical and interesting facts about the Gäu villages Altdorf, Böbingen, and Freimersheim during this hike.

With a hiking distance of 10 kilometers that can be comfortably managed without inclines, you have great views of the Haardt Mountains and the Palatinate Forest, including Hambach Castle and the Kalmit. Part of the path runs on the Franken-Hessen-Kurpfalz trail, a long-distance hiking path of the Pfälzerwald-Verein that leads from Speyer to Edenkoben.

Safety information
- Please pay special attention to your safety when crossing roads
- Although the paths are consistently well marked, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable hiking map, so that, for example, you can quickly find a safe area in case of a thunderstorm or emergency.
- Due to poor path conditions, two detours are currently signposted.
Tips and suggestions

From the parking lot at the Gäuhalle, the path leads past the sports field and the Altdorf Castle church towards Böbingen. Here is the first rest stop at the volleyball court. The path continues through the village, past the churches to the community center (DGH). Follow the trail markings along the main street to Hirtenstraße. Here turn right to the rest area at Lachgraben. From the rest area at Lachgraben, continue past the Gäu school to the next rest area at Fliegergrab. The last part of the Gäuwiesenweg leads past the PWV hut "Schmieds Kurt soi Haisel" and through Altdorf back to the Gäuhalle.
There are dining options in Altdorf at "Rewehäsl" (Hauptstr. 11) and in Böbingen at the Pfaffmann winery on the main street.

The loop to Fliegergrab is currently only passable via the Red Cross trail due to poor path conditions. Therefore, please return this way and turn left towards the PWV hut.
