Office de Tourisme Bruyères Vallons des Vosges
A walk without great difficulty for those who like to walk without climbing.
Walk with little elevation change allowing to discover the municipalities of Girecourt sur Durbion, Gugnécourt, and Méménil. This route, mostly on road, is ideal on a beautiful spring or autumn day. Take the castle alley opposite the church. It is bordered by the castle (private) built in the 16th century. Then, turn left and stay on the road leading to a housing estate. This same road turns into a path that runs along the Fontenay stream. Continue always on this same path which borders livestock parcels and brings you to Gugnécourt. Arriving in the village, leave the church on your left and continue on the road towards the Town Hall. Continue always on this same paved road to exit the village. Enter the Gugnécourt municipal forest by taking the Haie path on your right. Still in this same forest, after about 1 km, turn left at a hairpin bend. Continue straight for almost 2 km. You are in the Longchamp municipal forest. At the end of this path, take the paved road to your right which will lead you to Méménil, a village known for its Christmas market on the first weekend of Advent. Pass in front of the church and Town Hall, then turn right towards Girecourt sur Durbion. Continue straight, exit the village and leave the cemetery on your left. Always continue on this same narrow and winding paved road. Even if it is little frequented, remain cautious. Join the municipality of Girecourt sur Durbion. You pass along the busy D420, then you pass in front of the west facade of the castle before returning to the church parking lot.
