The idyllic forest meadow at the foot of Seelisberg, the founding place of the Swiss Confederation, can be reached comfortably by ship from Flüelen or Brunnen.
The first section of the path leads through a magnificent deciduous forest to Seelisberg. From the idyllic village high above Lake Uri, a flat section leads to Hostet, followed by a steep descent to Bauen. Known for its Mediterranean climate and lined with palms and kiwi plantations, this spot is an ideal place for a rest. From Bauen, the route runs through tunnels, galleries, and along embankments until shortly before Seedorf. From Seedorf to Flüelen, you walk through the nature reserve of the Reuss delta. Water lovers will find idyllic bathing spots here.
The route from Flüelen to the Tell Chapel passes through a varied section. In the wooded area between the lake and Axen road, you walk uphill and downhill under shady firs and trees. From the Tell Chapel, the “Federal Councilor Hans Hürlimann Path” runs directly along Lake Uri. At a former rock slide site, you ascend to the old Axen road and reach Sisikon. Before the construction of the Axen road and the Gotthard railway, the path over Morschach was the only usable land connection between Sisikon and Brunnen, i.e. between Uri and Schwyz. As then, the Swiss Path first climbs steeply uphill, then after the summit gently descends over open pastures towards Morschach. The panoramic view is impressively beautiful. The descent to Brunnen takes place on a natural road through the bright and spacious Ingenbohler forest, partly on the trackbed of the old cogwheel train. In Brunnen, there is a connection to the ship or SBB.
