The stork is the secret heraldic bird of the free city of Rust. Reason enough to dedicate a tour to it! Not far from the start of the route, you will find a pasture (Seewiese) that is populated by cows from around May to October. The Seewiese is part of the Rust stork protection programme, in which the creation and preservation of natural feeding grounds is an essential component. From the tower located there, you can observe storks and other bird species. The rest of the route takes you through vineyards. Many of the fallow fields in between are managed by the Rust Stork Association, as is the stork meadow, in order to create additional feeding grounds for the storks.

Arriving by train:Lake Neusiedl is easy and convenient to reach by train. Whether you are traveling from Switzerland, Germany, western or southern Austria, you can relax and change trains at Vienna Central Station. ÖBB regional trains will take you to Neusiedl am See station in just under 40 minutes, where coordinated bus and train connections to Eisenstadt are also available. From there, you can continue your journey to Rust by bus.
