Leaving Sremski Karlovci, the trail follows the Danube along the gentle eastern slopes of Fruška Gora, moving through a landscape long shaped by the river, leaving the vineyards, orchards, and the baroque cultural heritage of the town behind you. As the route heads south, the path ascends the high bank, onto the plateau above, and through cultivated clearings before reaching Čortanovci, a village perched above the Danube and known for its sweeping river views and the wooded ravines that descend toward the water. This area has been inhabited since Roman times, was later dotted with summer villas during the Habsburg period, and today blends rustic charm with the dramatic engineering of the nearby modern railway viaduct. From Čortanovci, the trail continues through rolling terrain toward the Beška bridge, where the landscape shifts from wooded slopes to the wide, open sweep of the Danube. Approaching the bridge, walkers sense the transition from the intimate, vineyard‑lined hills of Fruška Gora to the broad river corridor that leads deeper into the heart of Vojvodina.

From Sremski Karlovci, the trail follows the Danube downstream toward Belgrade. Partway along the route, we climb to the high riverbank and continue across the open plains of the Srem region. Towards the end of the stage, the trail descends again to the riverside, passing beneath the motorway near the Beška bridge.

Public transport
The easiest way to reach Sremski Karlovci from Novi Sad is either by frequent local buses (lines 61, 62, 63) or by the very fast regional train from Petrovaradin. Both options are cheap and frequent, and they take under 25 minutes. You can not reach the Beška bridge area by public transport. The best way to get to Beška is by bus (Beška centre bus stop, around 4,8 km from the bridge), or by regional train to Beška station, then walk to the Danube under the bridge, which is about 7,7 km from the station.
