The stage from Čunovo to Lipót follows the quiet, water‑rich world of the upper Danube floodplain, where river branches, wetlands, and forested islands create a landscape shaped as much by nature as by centuries of river engineering. Leaving Čunovo, the trail crosses into Hungary and reaches Dunakiliti, where canals and levees guide the river’s flow through a mosaic of meadows and backwaters. Continuing toward Doborgazsziget and Cikolasziget, the route enters the heart of the Szigetköz, a vast inland delta of side‑arms, willow forests, and quiet fishing spots that once formed one of the wildest stretches of the Danube. Wooden bridges, sandy tracks, and shady riverbanks accompany the walker through this peaceful, almost timeless landscape. The final approach to Lipót leads through open fields and small farmsteads before arriving in a village known for its thermal baths and long agricultural traditions. This stage blends cross‑border river history, the serene beauty of the Szigetköz wetlands, and the gentle rural charm of northwestern Hungary.

    Roadbook

At Čunovo, the trail crosses to the Hungarian side of the Danube and enters the Szigetköz, the large island formed by the Danube and its Mosoni branch. The path follows the river dyke, with cultivated fields on one side and the wooded floodplain on the other. Side channels, backwaters, and small islands lie between the embankments. Near the river stands the Trianon Lock, part of the system that once allowed traffic between the main river and its side branches. The route continues through villages built on slightly raised ground above the floodplain. The stage ends at Lipót. The thermal bath uses warm water drawn from deep beneath the plain. In the village centre, the Falu Múzeum preserves objects from daily life in the Szigetköz, where fishing, animal husbandry, and river transport formed the main occupations.
