Municipality of St. OswaldRoadbook
The trail starts as O6 at the St. Oswald municipal office (N 48° 30.036 E 14° 35.207), via the church square we turn left towards the old sports field and along the settlements "Kirchenwiese" and "Am Grabenhof" to the Kollerbauer (N 48° 29.571 E 14° 35.077). From there, head towards Oberreitern to the "Hasenecker" (N 48° 28.994 E 14° 34.529) and then left steeply uphill to the western summit of the Braunberg and through the forest directly to the ÖAV-Braunberghütte (N 48° 28.810 E 14° 35.047). Trail O6 continues together with the Nordwaldkammweg past the St. Oswald viewpoint through the forest over the eastern summit (N 48° 28.816 E 14° 35.263, new summit cross since 2006, geocache) to the villages of Witzelsberg, Stiftungsberg and Kreuzau. From Kreuzau, the route climbs steeply to Raphaelshöhe (N 48° 29.533 E 14° 36.503, geocache), where the beautiful view from the shelter makes up for the effort. We then continue via Rosenau (N 48° 29.517 E 14° 37.107) accompanied by the blue crest of the Nordwaldkamm trail logo to Holzmühle. After refreshments at the Holzmühle, the ascent to Unter- and Obermarreith (N 48° 30.049 E 14° 37.617, refreshments available) awaits us. If you have a GPS device with you, you can try to find the menhir in the forest (N48° 30.562 E014° 39.238, 871 m). After this ascent, we leave the Nordwaldkammweg, which continues to Sandl, and enjoy the gentle slope to Florenthein. Our next destination is the interesting granite rock and viewpoint Hussenstein (N 48° 31.262 E 14° 35.550), which we reach via Fünfling. The next place of power awaits us at the Gothic church of St Michael (N 48° 31.824 E 14° 34.535, very beautiful view, near the source of the Feldaist). From now on it's downhill. First to Oberrauchenödt (refreshments available), then to the Naturfreunde youth hostel, the Rannahof, and then to the Modlbauer (N 48° 30.730 E 14° 34.402), where we reach the Nordwaldkammweg, and along the village of Etzelsdorf back to St. Oswald to the starting point.
