    Author’s recommendation

Special features: Thanks to its secluded location, the summit offers breathtaking panoramic views – from the Lechtal Alps and the Verwall range right across to the Swiss mountains. The area around the Ravensburger Hütte is a paradise for marmots.

Places of interest: Spullersee – in 2023, the lake was named the most beautiful in Vorarlberg by ORF as part of the programme “9 Plätze 9 Schätze”. In the vicinity of the Ravensburger Hütte, you will find several climbing areas, such as the Spullerplatten or the Luggiwand.

Places to stop for refreshments: Restaurants in Lech am Arlberg and the Ravensburger Hütte

    Roadbook

From the Dorfhus, take the hiking bus towards Spullersee (included in the Lech Card). At the Spullersee bus stop, cross the dam and follow the signs to the Ravensburger Hütte. A stony path leads you across streams and along the hillside to your first stop, where you can take a short break. Just in front of the hut, a narrow, partly stony meadow path branches off to the left. The route starts with a gentle climb, then winds steeply in switchbacks over a grassy ridge to a saddle. There you catch your first glimpse of the summit. After a short climb up the ridge, you reach the south ridge and follow the crest. Shortly before the final ascent lies the crux – a rugged gully requiring some scrambling. Afterwards, you climb steeply over stone slabs and scree to the summit of the Spuller Schafberg, where you’ll even find two summit crosses. Enjoy the panoramic views from there. The descent follows the ascent route back to the bus stop and then by bus back to the starting point of the hike.

Alternative route: From the Ravensburger Hütte, you can also take the leisurely lakeside path to the bus stop.
