Smuggler's Trail and Samer Loop Trail
Shady, easy path from Ettenhausen over the suspension bridge to the pilgrimage site Maria Klobenstein (Smuggler's Trail). The Samer Trail continues to the Streichen Church and the mountain inn Streichen. From there, the path leads down over two alpine pastures back to Wagrain, from there back to the Geigelstein parking lot...
The Smuggler's Trail was further developed through an Interreg project and inaugurated in 2021. On the Schleching side, the new, well-signed path runs directly above the Tiroler Ache and then reconnects with the old route after Rudersburger Lake on the forest road. This trail is only suitable for sure-footed hikers. Below the pilgrimage church, there are now two mighty suspension bridges to cross the Tiroler Ache. Both allow spectacular views and a small loop along the discovered glacial mills and resting places. A special deep view is offered by the large viewing platform that juts far beyond the abyss.

Roadbook
Loop symbol: Samer or Smuggler's Trail
From the Geigelstein parking lot in Ettenhausen, follow a wide forest road towards Klobenstein past the Ruderburger Lake (detour). At the former border, a trail leads uphill and downhill again, past an impressive viewing platform, to the suspension bridge over the Ache, up to the Klobenstein inn. This section is not suitable for strollers. Through the second suspension bridge, there is now the possibility to take an additional small loop. The described route leads us towards the federal road, then turn right towards Kössen, after 200m turn left steeply on a farm road that leads the Samer Trail towards Streichen. Special caution is advised along the federal road! At the top end, a trail on the left passes the Samer rest stop (beautiful view of the Geigelstein) to Streichen. The Streichen church and the mountain inn Streichen reward the effort. The return path leads over two alpine pastures (not served!) to Wagrain and along the Ache back to the Geigelstein parking lot in Ettenhausen.
Alternatively, the path can be continued towards Kössen/Austria.
