Schwarzer Grat Experience Trail

A wonderful tour with beautiful variations. The path quickly leads us up into the forest, the history of the loggers comes alive, until we reach the legendary former Schletter Alpine hut – with the unique view over Isny and the West Allgäu. Some rest is offered on the ridge path before it steeply ascends again to the Schwarzen Grat, at 1118 meters the highest mountain in Württemberg. The most famous summit of the Adelegg, the getaway for early skiers and wanderers, immortalized a hundred times by the once-famous postcard painter Eugen Felle from Isny and thus made famous.

The tower offers a unique panoramic view over the Allgäu, the Alps, and Lake Constance. Downhill comfortably along the red deer nature trail to the rehabilitation clinic Überruh, another house of history with café and wellness. Once more uphill and downhill again to Großholzleute, this magical place of literature.

The tour partly runs through a bird sanctuary where rare and disturbance-sensitive species like the capercaillie and white-backed woodpecker find their home. Therefore, we ask:

• Stay on the paths and follow the marked routes

Those who stay on the designated paths are predictable for wildlife and are usually not considered a threat.

• Respect the protected areas

Protected areas are important refuges for disturbance-sensitive animal species in our landscape. Especially during breeding and rearing periods, these quiet areas ensure the survival of the animals and their young.

• Keep your dog on a leash

Free-running dogs trigger flight reactions in many wild animals. This costs energy and causes stress.
